PTSA Family Science Nights
All families of CES students are invited to participate in these PTSA sponsored events!!! This year four different Family Science Nights will be offered: Motion Commotion on Oct.7, Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My! on Nov.18, What’s the Matter? on Jan.27, and Invention Convention on March 3. Each Family Science Night participants will delve into a scientific topic by performing experiments, making predictions, gathering data, sharing ideas and having fun!!!
Family Science Nights last from 6:30 to 8:00 pm and are held in the CES cafeteria. The cost, $4.00/child for materials, is paid at the door. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Wednesday, October 7: “Motion Commotion” Learn about energy, forces, friction, and momentum while building and testing tops, rockets and cars.
Wednesday, November 18: “Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My!!!” Animal science is the focus tonight. Observe animal behavior, determine best beak designs for various foods, study animal tracks, and challenge your own senses!
Wednesday, January 27: “Test Tube Science” Children will receive two plastic test tubes to use at each station and then take home for further experimentation.
Wednesday, March 3: “Invention convention” Learn about air resistance, air pressure, buoyancy and more as you design, build and test “egg drop” parachutes, hovercrafts and boats.
Parent volunteers are always needed. Families of volunteers attend for free!
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
